I learned last week that the house I am staying at in Tuscany is an old farmhouse. I'm still learning about the details of the current farm there, but from what I know, I can't figure out what I'm more excited about--learning about play therapy or playing on the farm while I'm there.
I've seen different dates pertaining to when the house was built and the farm used. At the Casa Cares website, the "History" tab explains that the house was "developed in the 18th and 19th century as a traditional Tuscan farm". Today, they grow many vegetables and make their own Chianti and olive oil. I've added some pictures to this post of vegetables and lavender grown on the farm.
I can't express enough how excited I am to have this opportunity to study in Italy and stay in a beautiful villa in Tuscany. I didn't think I could possibly be more excited for this trip until I heard there's a working farm on the land. I am seriously going to have a hard time not skipping class to go help on the farm. It's almost spring in Italy, too, now so there may not be a whole lot going on but I'm happy to help. Maybe some asparagus will be ready?
